What have we learnt this term?
We’re back with another exciting year for all students who love music.
Every Wednesday in Key Stage 1 and every Thursday in Key Stage 2, we'll be joining in with singing assemblies, led by Mr Bailey and Miss Gateley. We choose our favourite pop songs and we use our best voices to sing them as a school. Favourites from last term included Myles Smith – Stargazing, Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga – Die with a Smile and Bruno Mars & Rose – APT.
In lessons, we have been learning a range of musical areas and skills:
EYFS – Celebration Music
Year 1 – Musical Symbols (Under the Sea)
Year 2 – Call and Response (Animals)
Year 3 – Ballads
Year 4 – Adopting and Transposing Motifs
Year 5 – Composition Notation (Ancient Egypt)
Year 6 – Songs of WW2
As well as our regular lessons, throughout the year, Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 take part in Rocksteady. The children form a band, choose an instrument and a song and then work as a team to practice their song and perform it for parents. It’s Year 3’d turn during Autumn, so we hope to see you at a show soon!
Year 6 also join Mrs Pimm in brass lessons.

What's coming up?
Performing in front of an audience and working as part of an ensemble is so important to a child's confidence and development. This term, all the children have worked so hard at bringing their best efforts to all of their performances.

The end of last year
Before we broke up for summer, Year 5 (our current Year 6) performed an amazing concert to the school and parents.
