B' Hive

Meet our B' Hive Staff

B’Hive Staff (ID 1270)

What is the B' Hive?

The B' Hive is a Resource Base provision for KS1 children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. In the B’ Hive, we are passionate about providing a bespoke curriculum that:

  • Considers the needs and personal targets of all children, in line

    with EHCPs/IPMs.

  • Promotes individual development and progress in all areas eg.

learning, speech and language, social interaction, motor skills

    development.

  • Prepares children for blended learning by ensuring children
    access curriculum subjects.

Placements for the B' Hive are allocated through consultation with the Hull City Council Local Authority SEND Team and children accessing this provision must have an Education Health and Care Plan in place.

Wider Curriculum in B' Hive

Autumn

In the Autumn Term, as geographers we will explore our local area. As designers, we will create our own smoothie using different fruits and healthy foods. We will practise cutting, chopping and using a blender. As scientists we will learn about our bodies and other animals. In R.E we will learn about festivals such as Diwali, Harvest and Christmas. As artists, we will learn about colour mixing and create a piece of artwork using these skills.

Spring

In the Spring Term, as historians we will find out about space exploration and different aircrafts. We will design our own moving astronauts and rockets. As scientists we will explore materials. As geographers, we will explore objects and pictures from London and a country from the wider world using the story Paddington. As artists we will explore still life pictures and sculptures. In R.E, we will learn about Easter and other Christian festivals.

Summer

In the Summer Term, as geographers, we will explore hot and cold countries. We will learn about dinosaurs in history. As designers we will make a healthy wrap using different ingredients. As artists we will explore patterns and landscapes. As scientists we will explore plants and living things and will plant our own sunflowers. In RE, we will learn about Christian artefacts. We will take part in sports day and an educational visit.

Maths in B' Hive

The children will learn to count, read and write numbers and how these numbers correspond to objects. They will apply their learning to real life situations and explore numbers in their environment. The children will learn about shape, space and measure and will have the opportunity to explore them practically.

English in B' Hive

The children will learn key mark making and pre-writing skills to support in their development of letter formation. They will access phonic opportunities that are level appropriate and adapted to support early reading development. They will explore a range of stories through sensory opportunities and complete activities linked to the story to enhance their learning.
